Vein Treatments with Award-Winning Compassion

We know that many patients are nervous about getting vein treatments. We understand. At One Vein Clinic, we want you to know that we do our best to make your experience as relaxing and stress-free as possible. Our staff is very compassionate and friendly and you can ask as many questions as you need to make you feel confident and comfortable. We are here to answer your questions, allay your fears, and hold your hand. This attitude of compassion comes from the top. Dr. Farha received an award for his compassionate care. Here’s the story: As a Young Resident Before opening One Vein Clinic, Dr. Farha did his general surgery residency and trauma rotation at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. There, Dr. Farha encountered a young patient who was in critical condition. Despite the patient’s deteriorating condition, Dr. Farha remained committed to providing care and comfort to both the patient and his family. He even followed the patient to the ICU and stayed with them all night, even though he was not on call that night. When It Counted Although the patient’s condition worsened, Dr. Farha continued to visit and care for him. The patient eventually suffered a cardiac arrest (his heart suddenly stopped beating), but Dr. Farha and his team were able to resuscitate him. During this time, Dr. Farha also provided medical and emotional support to the patient’s mother, who was struggling both emotionally and physically. Sadly, the patient passed away by morning. The Patient’s Mother Nominated Dr. Farha for an Award Months later, Dr. Farha received a letter from Via Christi St. Francis, informing him that the patient’s mother had nominated him for the Via Christi Award of St. Luke’s in recognition of his compassionate care. Dr. Farha became the first resident to receive this prestigious award, and the hospital has since made it an annual recognition for resident physicians. Dr. Farha was both humbled and honored, recognizing the importance of compassionate care in the medical profession. Our Entire Staff Is Waiting to Help You We hope you won’t let fear keep you from getting the vein treatments you need. Dr. Farha and our entire staff make sure every part of your visit is warm, friendly, and welcoming. If you have reservations about getting your varicose or spider veins treated, come in for an evaluation. We’re sure once you meet us, you’ll feel much more relaxed about getting the vein treatments you need. Dr. Farha will let you know which procedure is best for your condition and explain it in detail so you know just what to expect. Most procedures take less than two hours and are done right here in our office. one-of-a-kind vein clinic

One-of-a-Kind Vein Clinic Office

At One Vein Clinic, we strive to create a warm and friendly office environment. We know that coming in for varicose vein treatment can be a little stressful for some patients. Let’s face it, going to the doctor – any doctor is not something we look forward to. But when you come to One Vein Clinic, you’ll find that we’re not like all the other vein clinics. We do our best to make you feel welcome and at ease. Patients Are Like Family The first person you will meet when you come in for varicose vein treatment is Maria. She said the reason she loves working at One Vein Clinic is because it is so warm and friendly. It makes her think of an experience she remembers from her home in Argentina. “I’m from Argentina originally. I left 15 years ago, but in Argentina, I had a dentist that I loved. She was awesome. She was far away from my home. The wait time was sometimes long, but she was so great it was worth the drive and the wait. If I had an emergency, I knew she would always get me in on that same day. Her mom was the office manager and she was awesome. We would chat and talk while we were waiting and it made everything a little bit better. Going to the dentist felt like visiting friends.” “I always try to make our patients feel the same way…like they aren’t just patients, they’re part of our family. We have a great group here and we really enjoy our jobs and each other. I think that our patients can feel that when they come in for their treatments and it helps everyone to relax and have a better experience than they would at a typical doctor’s office.” Your Varicose Veins Are in Good Hands When you choose a vein clinic for varicose vein treatment, you can check on things like the doctor’s background and education. Dr. Farha is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He earned his medical degree at St. Joseph’s University and completed his residency at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. Dr. Farha previously served as the chief of surgery at HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital in Orange Park, Florida, and taught medical students and surgical residents for five years. He has 15 years of experience performing minimally invasive vein treatments. You know you are in good hands from a medical standpoint. And while the medical care you receive is paramount, at One Vein Clinic, we want you to feel comfortable with the whole experience. That’s what our staff is so good at and that’s the experience you won’t get anywhere else. A Great Experience We can talk all day long about the kind of experience we want our patients to have, but it’s better to hear it from one of our patients. Here is an actual patient testimonial: So happy. The best medical clinic I have ever been to. My legs look great and my symptoms are gone. After having bad experience at other vein clinics, I am so thankful to have found One Vein. I love everyone there and I use to look forward to go for my treatments. Thank you Dr. Farha and team.  — Amber Brown One Vein Clinic We know there are other vein clinics in the St. Augustine area. We know you can get good medical treatment for varicose veins there too. vein treatments no waiting

Welcome to One Vein Clinic’s “No Waiting” Waiting Room

Nobody likes to wait. At One Vein Clinic, we do our best to respect your time. One of the main ways we do that is with our booking schedule. We don’t like to keep our patients waiting. So we book the schedule accordingly. Our patients come in for vein treatments and are generally seen within 15 minutes of their appointment time at the very most. We keep a close eye on the scheduling so that we can ensure that we give each person the appropriate amount of time for their procedure while ensuring Dr. Farha doesn’t get too backed up. We don’t overbook the schedule because we know that no one likes waiting. Scheduling Varicose Vein Patients Is a Balancing Act To keep an office flowing smoothly, you have to be very intentional about scheduling. We want Dr. Farha to treat as many patients as possible so they don’t have to wait weeks to be seen, but we don’t want to overbook and create a poor individual patient experience. It really is a balancing act. We won’t say we’ve never gotten behind, but we do our best to keep that from happening. Vein Treatments Are Relaxed – Not Rushed Most people don’t switch doctors because they don’t like the care they receive. They leave because they don’t like the experience. Sometimes they are forced to wait too long. Sometimes they feel like they were rushed through the appointment. Other times it can be unfriendly office staff that make them feel uncomfortable. We want your experience to be positive and enjoyable. We take great care to allow plenty of time for appointments, plus buffer time in case Dr. Farha gets caught up with a particular patient who requires more time than originally planned. We want to make sure you have time to ask any questions you may have about your vein treatment or your results. We Want Our Vein Clinic to Be Warm and Friendly Everything we do at One Vein Clinic is aimed at making your entire experience enjoyable. Yes, enjoyable! While getting vein treatment may not be the highlight of your day, we want your experience to be as pleasant as possible. We try to personalize your visit. We chat with our patients in the waiting room before their appointments. We offer cookies and coffee and ask how their day is going. It’s not cold and sterile like most doctors’ offices. It’s not uncommon to hear laughter coming from a treatment room. We really connect with our patients on a deeper level. We have a whole different vibe than most medical offices and our patients tell us they really like it. Many say they are a little sad when their treatments are over and they won’t be coming in on a regular basis. We hope you’ll choose us for your varicose or spider vein treatments in the St. Augustine area. We promise to make your experience as enjoyable as possible while you receive the best vein treatments. If you are tired of suffering with the pain of varicose veins, let the One Vein Clinic team treat you so you can get back to living your best life. Most varicose vein treatments are covered by insurance, so call 904-990-0777 to schedule an appointment or book online.

One of the things we’ve learned from listening to our patients’ stories is that many people don’t know that most varicose vein treatments are covered by insurance. She’s fantastic and she will make the process as pain-free as possible. “It’s aggravating sometimes, but I know the ins and outs and can make it much less aggravating for our patients. Sometimes I’m on the phone with Medicare for 20 minutes before I even get to talk to anyone. I’m used to it. I will make it happen!” Maria said. Because of her tenacity with the insurance companies, she has earned the office nickname “Insurance Ninja”. How Do You Know If Your Varicose Vein Treatments Are Covered by Insurance? All you have to do is make an appointment to come in and see Dr. Farha. He will evaluate your legs and your veins and tell you if you qualify from a medical standpoint. ClosureFast treatment for varicose veins

ClosureFast™ Treatment for Varicose Veins

If you’ve been living with the pain and embarrassment of varicose veins, but you’re afraid of painful vein-stripping surgery, ClosureFast™ may be exactly the treatment you’re looking for. ClosureFast™ treatment for varicose veins is a minimally invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy (heat) to close problematic varicose veins. With this procedure, a catheter delivers consistent and uniform heat which causes the collagen in the vein walls to collapse and the vein closes. ClosureFast™ Is an Outpatient Procedure At One Vein Clinic, this non-surgical, outpatient procedure is performed right here in our office, not a hospital. No general anesthesia, sedation, or incisions are required. The procedure usually takes less than one hour and there’s no downtime afterward. Learn more about ClosureFast™ and feel free to call us to ask any questions you may have after reading this blog article. What Is the Procedure Like? With ClosureFast™, most patients report feeling little, if any, pain during the procedure. Before treatment begins, you will receive a local anesthetic to numb the area. The actual treatment time is usually an hour or less. ClosureFast™ is safe and effective and has a low risk for complications. You may experience some bruising and swelling, which is normal. How Does ClosureFast™ Work? Dr. Farha will insert the RFA catheter into the varicose vein using ultrasound guidance. The catheter is moved up the vein toward the upper leg. The catheter uses a mild degree of heat to treat the inner lining of the vein causing the vein to shrink and collapse. After treatment, the vein is reabsorbed by the body, and the blood is diverted to healthy veins. Is ClosureFast™ Covered by Insurance? Most insurance companies pay for the ClosureFast™ procedure in part or in full. We can help you verify your insurance coverage when you call. For patients whose vein treatment costs are not covered, we also offer financing options including CareCredit, HELP card, and HSA or FSA accounts. Am I a Candidate for ClosureFast™? ClosureFast treatment for varicose veins is not suitable for all patients. Dr. Farha will examine your legs, look at your medical history, and determine if you are a good candidate for ClosureFast™. We offer a variety of procedures and we will discuss them with you when we do your vein treatment planning. Is ClosureFast™ Effective? The ClosureFast™ procedure has been proven in clinical studies to have excellent long-term effectiveness and can be performed on large veins in an office setting using local anesthesia. Patients can expect improvements in symptoms and the appearance of varicose veins. What Should I Expect After ClosureFast™ Treatment? You should be able to do most ordinary activities after your treatment. Avoid heavy exercise for one week. You will have some post-treatment bandages on the treated leg(s). Keep them dry for 48 hours. Compression stockings should be worn on the treated leg(s) for two weeks. For the next month, keep moving and avoid long stretches of inactivity. You should walk a minimum of ten minutes a day. Walking boosts blood flow and helps prevent swelling and blood clots. If you are tired of suffering with the pain of varicose veins, ClosureFast™ may be the right treatment for you. Let the One Vein Clinic team help you find the best treatment so you can say goodbye to varicose veins. Call 904-990-0777 to schedule an appointment or book online.

Varithena Treatment

Varithena Treatment for Varicose Veins

If you’ve been living with the pain and embarrassment of varicose veins, but you’re afraid of painful vein-stripping surgery, Varithena treatment may be exactly what you’re looking for. Varithena is an FDA-approved microfoam treatment that is gentle and nearly-painless. At One Vein Clinic, this non-surgical, outpatient procedure is performed right here in our office, not a hospital. No general anesthesia, sedation, or incisions are required. The procedure usually takes less than one hour and there’s no downtime afterward. You can get right back to whatever you had planned that day. Learn more about Varithena and feel free to call us to ask any questions you may have after reading this blog article. What Is the Procedure Like? With Varithena, treatment is usually just one or two needle sticks and is nearly painless. In fact, in clinical trials, only 4% of patients reported pain at the injection or application site. Our staff is very patient and caring. The treatments have a good track record of effectiveness. Most people only need one treatment. However, additional treatments may be needed, depending on the number and size of veins being treated. How Does Varithena Treatment Work? Dr. Farha will inject a small amount of the microfoam into the problem veins. The microfoam fills and treats the desired section of the vein. The diseased vein collapses and the foam is diluted in the bloodstream and flushed out. When the malfunctioning vein collapses, blood flow shifts to healthier veins nearby. Is Varithena Covered by Insurance? Yes, Varithena is covered by most Medicare and insurance plans. Coverage is determined by the severity of your varicose veins and your symptoms. We can help you verify your insurance coverage when you call. For patients whose vein treatment costs are not covered, we also offer financing options including CareCredit, HELP card, and HSA or FSA accounts. Am I a Candidate for Varithena? Varithena can treat a variety of varicose veins including: Veins of all sizes (including small, medium, and large diameters Veins previously treated by other medical methods Twisted veins (also called tortuous veins) Dr. Farha will examine your legs, look at your medical history, and determine if you are a good candidate for Varithena treatment. We have various options to treat varicose veins, so together, we can decide which one is right for you. Is Varithena Effective? In clinical studies, the majority of patients treated with Varithena experienced improvements in symptoms and appearance. Leg heaviness, achiness, swelling, throbbing, and itching improved after just one treatment. Clinical studies also found that the majority of patients experienced improvement in vein appearance in assessments by both patients and physicians. The good news is that the majority of patients treated with Varithena experienced these results after just one treatment. What Should I Expect After Varithena Treatment? You should be able to do most ordinary activities after your treatment. Avoid heavy exercise for one week. You will have some post-treatment bandages on the treated leg(s). Keep them dry for 48 hours. Compression stockings should be worn on the treated leg(s) for two weeks. For the next month, keep moving and avoid long stretches of inactivity. You should walk a minimum of ten minutes a day. What Are the Side Effects of Varithena? The most common side effects are leg pain or discomfort, injection site bruising or pain, and potentially serious blood clots in the leg veins. These are not all of the possible side effects of Varithena treatment. Because it is a medical procedure, we always schedule a followup appointment after treatments to check on your legs and make sure all is well. If you are tired of suffering with the pain of varicose veins, Varithena may be the right treatment for you. Let the One Vein Clinic team help you find the best treatment so you can say goodbye to varicose veins. Call 904-990-0777 to schedule an appointment or book online.

Sclerotherapy in Winter

Why Sclerotherapy in Winter Is a Great Idea

Varicose veins are prevalent, affecting 1 in 4 adults. However, this doesn’t mean you have to accept their impact on your appearance. These pesky veins stand out as bulging, twisted, discolored veins most often appearing on the legs. Varicose veins can shake your confidence in your appearance. Fortunately, sclerotherapy is an effective treatment. See why sclerotherapy in winter months is an even better idea. At One Vein Clinic in Augustine, Florida, our skilled vein expert Dr. Fawzi Farha takes varicose veins seriously and is committed to helping you look and feel your best. We frequently offer sclerotherapy to our patients for varicose veins and spider veins, especially during cooler months here in Northeast Florida. How Varicose Veins Develop When your veins work properly, they return deoxygenated blood to the heart, working against gravity. Veins have a series of tiny one-way valves that close after the blood goes through, preventing backward movement and ensuring that blood flows in the appropriate direction. Varicose veins develop when vein valves are damaged and allow blood to pool in the veins, applying pressure against the vein walls. Over time, the increased pressure causes veins to become engorged with blood and appear twisted and discolored. Varicose veins are a sign of venous insufficiency, which can cause your legs to feel heavy or achy, especially at night. Sclerotherapy: A Minimally Invasive Varicose Vein Treatment Sclerotherapy treats varicose veins without the need for surgical approaches like vein stripping. Treatment involves using a special medical solution to close damaged veins so that the body reroutes blood to healthy veins. Sclerotherapy is a simple outpatient procedure that takes about an hour or less and does not require anesthesia. This not only improves the appearance of your legs, but it also improves vascular health. It’s an excellent option for patients wishing to feel more secure in their skin. Sclerotherapy in Winter Offers Advantages over Summer While sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure, your body still needs some time to recover. You can expect to have some bruising and swelling. Cooler months offer the prime time to slow down and take it easy so your body can heal. Elevating your legs and wearing compression socks for at least a week helps to minimize swelling.  Sclerotherapy in winter is ideal because during recovery from sclerotherapy, it’s  important to protect the skin from UV rays to prevent discoloration. Wearing long pants, long-sleeved shirts, and sweaters during cooler months naturally protects your skin from UV rays. Most importantly, the sun’s ultraviolet rays are further away and weaker during winter.  Let the One Vein Clinic team help you say good riddance to unsightly varicose veins with sclerotherapy in winter. Call 904-990-0777 to schedule a consultation with a One Vein Clinic provider or submit your request using our convenient online booking form here on our website.

skin discoloration on your legs

Should You See a Doctor About Skin Discoloration on Your Legs?

If you’ve noticed skin discoloration on your legs, it could indicate an underlying medical condition. One of the most common causes of skin discoloration on the legs is vein disease, also known as venous insufficiency. Vein disease can significantly impact your quality of life if left untreated. Treating vein disease can alleviate your symptoms, improve your overall health, and reduce your risk of developing more serious medical conditions. At One Vein Clinic, vein expert Dr. Fawzi Farha provides comprehensive treatments for a full range of issues that affect the veins. It’s wise to visit a vein specialist for an evaluation when you notice skin discoloration. An ultrasound to assess the blood flow in your legs is commonly used to help identify any areas of blockage or reflux. Based on your exam and ultrasound results, Dr. Farha can diagnose your condition and develop a treatment plan. Understanding Vein Disease Leg veins carry blood back to your heart. They have small valves that open and close to allow blood to flow in one direction. When the valves are damaged or weak, blood can flow backward and pool in your legs, causing various symptoms. Some of the common symptoms of vein disease include: Don’t hesitate to speak with a vein specialist if you notice any signs of skin discoloration on your legs or other vein problems. Skin Discoloration on Your Legs Skin discoloration on your legs is a common symptom of vein disease. When blood pools in your legs due to weak or damaged veins, it can cause the skin to become discolored. The discoloration is often seen around the ankles and can extend up the legs. The discoloration is caused by the breakdown of red blood cells, which release iron into the surrounding tissue. This iron can stain the skin, causing discoloration. Other skin changes, such as thickening or ulceration, can also occur. Treatment Options for Vein Disease There are several treatment options for vein disease, ranging from lifestyle changes to minimally invasive procedures. The most appropriate treatment for you will depend on the severity of your condition and your individual health needs. Here are some of the most common treatment options for vein disease: Lifestyle Changes In some cases, changing your lifestyle can help alleviate the symptoms of vein disease. Dr. Farha may recommend that you: In many cases, these changes improve symptoms. However, there are effective treatments to eliminate bad veins and boost vascular health. Sclerotherapy Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive vein treatment that involves injecting a solution into the affected veins. The veins eventually dissipate after using this treatment once they collapse. The most common conditions treated with sclerotherapy are spider and minor varicose veins. Endovenous Laser Treatment Endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to close off the affected veins. During the procedure, a small laser fiber is inserted into the affected vein, and laser energy is used to heat it, causing it to collapse. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia and has a high success rate. Radiofrequency Ablation Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) uses radiofrequency energy to shut off the problem veins. During the procedure, a small catheter is inserted into the targeted vein, and radiofrequency energy heats it, causing it to collapse. Like EVLT, RFA is typically performed under local anesthesia and has a high success rate. Treatment Improves Vascular Health If left untreated, vein disease can progress, leading to more serious complications, such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). Treatment reduces the chances of complications and improves overall vein health. To schedule an evaluation, call our clinic at 904-990-0777 or book online today. Your vascular health is our top priority!

Venaseal Procedure for Varicose Veins

Is Venaseal™ Right for Me?

Varicose veins can cause discomfort, pain, and embarrassment, making it difficult to feel confident and comfortable in your own skin. While there is no foolproof way to prevent varicose veins from developing, effective treatments are available to help you. Venaseal is a nonsurgical treatment for varicose veins that uses a medical adhesive to seal the damaged vein shut. The adhesive is injected into the vein using a small catheter, which is then removed once the procedure is complete. It is a safe and effective treatment that can provide long-lasting relief from the symptoms of varicose veins. What Are the Benefits of Venaseal? Venaseal sets itself apart from other treatment methods as a nonsurgical treatment option. Unlike traditional surgical procedures, it does not require anesthesia and offers a quicker recovery time with less discomfort and bruising. Rather than relying on heat or laser energy, Venaseal employs a medical adhesive to close off affected veins. This innovative approach provides long-lasting results, making it an excellent solution for varicose veins. For individuals seeking a safe, effective, and comfortable treatment option, it is a compelling choice. The procedure is generally well-tolerated; most patients experience little to no pain. How Effective Is Venaseal? Venaseal has been shown to be highly effective in treating varicose veins. In fact, clinical studies have found that 98% of patients still had closed veins after 5 years, making Venaseal one of the most effective vein treatments available. The adhesive used in the procedure is designed to permanently close the affected veins, resulting in long-lasting relief from the symptoms of varicose veins. Additionally, it can help prevent future complications associated with varicose veins, such as blood clots and skin ulcers. What Can I Expect During and After the Procedure? During the Venaseal procedure, you will be awake and able to communicate with our team. A small catheter will be inserted into the affected vein, and the medical adhesive will be injected to seal the vein shut. You may feel mild discomfort during the procedure, but most patients tolerate it. After the procedure, you can expect to return to your normal activities almost immediately. While you may experience minor bruising or soreness, these symptoms typically resolve within a few days. Who Is a Good Candidate for Venaseal? Venaseal is typically recommended for patients with mild to moderate varicose veins. If your varicose veins are severe, we may recommend a different treatment option. Our team will perform a thorough evaluation to determine whether Venaseal is the right choice for you. Let the One Vein Clinic team help you say goodbye to varicose veins. Call 904-990-0777 to schedule an appointment to discuss VenaSeal to treat your varicose veins.

Leg swelling and varicose veins

Why You Shouldn’t Ignore Leg Swelling

Poor circulation can majorly impact leg health. When issues such as leg swelling or cramping arise, it’s vital to check your vascular health as soon as possible. You should never ignore or put off seeing a health care provider about leg swelling, as it may be a sign of heart or circulatory trouble. Persistent swelling that doesn’t go away requires prompt evaluation. Trust One Vein Clinic in Augustine, Florida, with all your vascular needs. Our team has extensive experience diagnosing and treating vascular conditions, such as those that cause leg swelling. Let’s take a closer look at why feet and legs swell and the steps to take when you notice this issue. Why Are My Legs Swollen? Leg swelling happens when fluid retention in the legs is known medically as edema. If you have swelling in your legs after sitting or standing for an extended period, or if your swelling worsens throughout the day, you may have peripheral edema, which problems with the circulatory system can cause. How Healthy Blood Vessels Work The heart circulates blood through blood vessels, transporting it to and from all body parts. The vascular system refers to the entire network of blood vessels. Blood vessels have valves that keep blood flowing in one direction. The blood vessels in your legs must work against gravity to do their job. Problems arise when these valves become weak or damaged. In other cases, fat accumulates in blood vessels, causing narrowing.  Chronic Venous Insufficiency Chronic venous insufficiency occurs when vein valves don’t work as well as they should. Instead of keeping blood flowing in one direction toward the heart, the weak or damaged valves allow blood to flow backward. This causes blood to pool in the legs. Other than leg swelling, other common symptoms include: You may also notice some skin changes. The skin on the legs may turn blue, pale, or otherwise discolored. It’s also typical to develop slow-healing leg sores. Peripheral Artery Disease The peripheral vascular system comprises all the arteries and veins outside the heart and head. Peripheral artery disease (PAD), which most commonly affects the legs, is a significant issue that can cause leg pain and swelling. In PAD, the narrow arteries reduce blood flow to the legs. Fatty deposits in the arteries most commonly cause it. A sticky plaque of fats, proteins, calcium, and debris forms on the walls, preventing normal blood flow. Treating Vascular Disease Our top priority is getting you the effective treatment you need to keep your vascular system as healthy as possible. Untreated vascular disease can progress and cause serious health complications. Our vein clinic Jacksonville is committed to providing comprehensive care to patients with vascular disease by employing the most effective techniques to prevent, diagnose, and treat vascular problems. Early detection of vascular disease is key. If you notice swelling in your legs, ankles or feet, it’s critical to figure out what’s causing it. Schedule a visit with a One Vein Clinic provider by calling or booking online today for a thorough evaluation, accurate diagnosis and the most effective leg swelling treatment options.
