If you’ve been living with the pain and embarrassment of varicose veins, but you’re afraid of painful vein-stripping surgery, ClosureFast™ may be exactly the treatment you’re looking for. ClosureFast™ treatment for varicose veins is a minimally invasive treatment that uses radiofrequency (RF) energy (heat) to close problematic varicose veins. With this procedure, a catheter delivers consistent and uniform heat which causes the collagen in the vein walls to collapse and the vein closes.
ClosureFast™ Is an Outpatient Procedure
At One Vein Clinic, this non-surgical, outpatient procedure is performed right here in our office, not a hospital. No general anesthesia, sedation, or incisions are required. The procedure usually takes less than one hour and there’s no downtime afterward. Learn more about ClosureFast™ and feel free to call us to ask any questions you may have after reading this blog article.
What Is the Procedure Like?
With ClosureFast™, most patients report feeling little, if any, pain during the procedure. Before treatment begins, you will receive a local anesthetic to numb the area. The actual treatment time is usually an hour or less. ClosureFast™ is safe and effective and has a low risk for complications. You may experience some bruising and swelling, which is normal.
How Does ClosureFast™ Work?
Dr. Farha will insert the RFA catheter into the varicose vein using ultrasound guidance. The catheter is moved up the vein toward the upper leg. The catheter uses a mild degree of heat to treat the inner lining of the vein causing the vein to shrink and collapse. After treatment, the vein is reabsorbed by the body, and the blood is diverted to healthy veins.
Is ClosureFast™ Covered by Insurance?
Most insurance companies pay for the ClosureFast™ procedure in part or in full. We can help you verify your insurance coverage when you call. For patients whose vein treatment costs are not covered, we also offer financing options including CareCredit, HELP card, and HSA or FSA accounts.
Am I a Candidate for ClosureFast™?
ClosureFast treatment for varicose veins is not suitable for all patients. Dr. Farha will examine your legs, look at your medical history, and determine if you are a good candidate for ClosureFast™. We offer a variety of procedures and we will discuss them with you when we do your vein treatment planning.
Is ClosureFast™ Effective?
The ClosureFast™ procedure has been proven in clinical studies to have excellent long-term effectiveness and can be performed on large veins in an office setting using local anesthesia. Patients can expect improvements in symptoms and the appearance of varicose veins.
What Should I Expect After ClosureFast™ Treatment?
You should be able to do most ordinary activities after your treatment. Avoid heavy exercise for one week. You will have some post-treatment bandages on the treated leg(s). Keep them dry for 48 hours. Compression stockings should be worn on the treated leg(s) for two weeks. For the next month, keep moving and avoid long stretches of inactivity. You should walk a minimum of ten minutes a day. Walking boosts blood flow and helps prevent swelling and blood clots.
